With an MA in politics and a PhD in political science from Claremont Graduate University, she has published peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on topics related to criminal justice policy, constitutional law, political philosophy, and American politics, and she is regularly consulted by broadcast media on a range of issues related to local, state, and national affairs. Hawai’i Pacific University (HPU) is a nonprofit private institution with more than 5,000 students, and as the university’s chief strategy officer, Walsh serves as a key executive leader responsible for the development, execution, and continuous evaluation of the university’s strategic position, ensuring alignment with HPU’s mission, vision, values, and long-term goals. She served as HPU’s provost between 2019 and 2024, and during that time, she helped the university launch more than twenty new graduate degrees in high-growth areas, including four professional doctorates, three post-master’s certificates, and nearly a dozen master’s degrees. In her role as chief strategy officer, she continues to oversee strategic partnerships and the federal grant portfolio, which has grown by more than 300 percent in less than five years.
